Supporting a domestic violence victim and her babies left homeless by Cyclone Debbie
As most people will be aware, Queensland and Northern NSW were severely impacted by Cyclone Debbie. She wrecked absolute havoc from Northern Queensland down. Support The Girls Australia was contacted by the Department of Housing Queensland this week asking if we were able to help a young Mum with two young children who had been displaced from a domestic violence refuge due to the flooding in Northern Queensland.
Jane our Director and Founder of STG in Australia is someone that will always say yes to a challenge. Jane had no idea how she was going to achieve it but she said she would see what she could do.
Well thanks to the power of social media a solution kicked into place within two hours of posting the request on our Facebook page. We have to say acknowledge Pastor Warren from the Encounter Church of Labrador. With his donation of furniture we were able to create a miracle. Within 24 hours of Jane setting the wheels in motion we had everything to ensure this Mum and her two little boys had a roof over their heads. She walked into a house and by afternoon she had a home.
We also have to thank the incredible generosity of the Gold Coast Community. Without the constant support of donations we would not be able to achieve what we do.
It is amazing what can be done with collaboration.
Thank you to everyone involved.
